Countryboy is right, tubes are an excellent bait and work anytime of the season. You can't go wrong using them.

I tried jigs, broken-back lure at Grants branch park, no luck. No luck for Lower John's Creek Paylake either.

Like with anything it takes time and you have to build confidence in what your fishing. search the web for site that teach you how to work these baits and where to fish them .There are many good site on bass fishing out there and most have good people willing to answer any question you have. Good luck.
