 Post subject: Example of Infrared Trail Camera

I've set up all of my homebrew camera's so that I can switch them from white flash to IR and then back if I want. Here are some pics to show you how to do it. (Remember that you have to change the IR filter glass in the camera so that it can see IR. To go back to white flash, you have to either change the glass back or use a different camera that is white flash) I 'think' I will never use white flash again.....When the camera takes a pic in a completely dark room, you will only see a very faint red/pink glow appear from the flash area on the cam itself. Nothing else can be seen, even on the object....

Here is the flash area beforehand:

I make a cut and remove the foam:

I use a dremmel tool to form the flash filter which is a form of plexiglass. I also use a flash enhancer and cut it to fit the flash filter:

Use tape on the sides so that you can remove it easily if needed. I thought about velcro, but it makes the filter stick up too far and misaligns the camera when you close the case:

Here is an IR pic in a completely dark room. You cannot see ANYTHING illuminate!

And changed to black and white (day pics are almost true color and can be converted easily with most photo editing software):
