caught last night at powell on black-white jointed jitterbug....he flat out destroyed it.

caught 6 in about an hour....this being the biggest. this is actually probably the biggest ive ever caught. he weighed in at 3 lbs even. smallies in powell dont get too big....and im glad in a way cause this sucker came close to breaking my line (6lb test). the fight these things have mixed with the current makes for an unreal battle. it took 15 minutes to get him in.

Going again tonight, hopefully will do even better.

bout 1-1.5 lbs. still a great fight. smallies are tearin topwater jitterbugs up....you cant beat the feeling of seeing a jitterbug glide through the water then BAM...it just gets destroyed.

think about fishing clinch tonight.

yeah powell is a great river to fish. perfect wading river too.

i figured there would be some smallmouth up that way JD. tug fork or levisa fork doesnt have any? sometimes you can find them in some big creeks, but they generally dont get too big. thats like powell, the river isnt but about 30 yards wide and 4 ft deep in the deepest part where we normally fish. and there they dont get too big....they did a shock-survey once on powell near where we fish and the biggest fish they got up was around 5 lbs...so they dont get as big as lake smallies too. but like i said when they get in that current, a 1 lb smallie fights better than a 3-4 lbs largemouth.

blue - yeah they are starting to pick up. next few weeks should just get better, especially closer to full moon. i love a good cloudy night during the full moon. jitterbugs on top water - right near some shoals. cant go wrong.

went to clinch last night, tried to find some new spots. fished a while near some boat ramps off 25E, didnt do any good. water was a lot deeper - we needed a boat for that spot really. saw quite a few copperheads, that was about it.
