I guess you can blame part of that on me. I talked to Chris over a year ago to do something about more river access, looks like he trying to get something done.

Yes it will cause more fishing pressure, :( but coal won't last forever and our economy needs something different to create jobs. Doing this is just one piece of a LARGE puzzle.

This all makes me sad because I love that river, floating along fishing with a few friends, but I know it must/needs to be done. :( :( :( :(

I think I'll send a email in a few minutes to a certain person about size restrictions place on the river. ;)

I think if it is done with Ky F&W getting involved and managing the river it could be a class A smallie river for many years. They have done a bang up job with Elkhorn they could do the same here. With this stimulis package coming out I read where the state F&W will get big money for managing fish and wildlife. It may be a good project for us all to work on for the betterment of the area and some good smallie fishing in the future on the Tug. Another plus is if we plan a rodeo like we had talked about it would give us lots more put ins and take outs. ::yes::

Those are some good points and good reasons not to keep places such as this a secret.
Country boy, good job getting something done.
Managing it correctly would be the key as you have both said. One thing for sure, I really want to check out that river this year.

I seriously doubt I have much of an influence on getting anything done, but the conversation did take place. As with anything over use and no maintenance will destroy it.
If this much access is given, I just hope the F&W can be convinced to put a size restriction on the fish in the river. Kentucky does own the water to the low water level on the opposite side of the river bordering the other states,. So this can be done if they wish.

The clean up they talked about in the article is always a plus. ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::
