They White Water Raft that area each Oct. The state has always stock it with Brown Trout. Beautiful River.
i caught some trout out of it last year. youre right, its one of the most beautiful rivers ive seen.
those pics are awesome fisher. that looks like an excellant place to start IMO. how deep is that water there?
smallies are definately on the nest. went last night...threw white tiny torpedo and jitterbug which they would usually destroy....nothing. threw on a mini chartruse spinnerbait and buddy tied on a jig...caught 2 fish apiece in less than 20 minutes. probably would have caught more but we didnt throw on the right baits til it was almost time to go. the baits they strike out of aggression from the best....jigs and spinnerbaits...were the ticket. going back again tonight.
cant wait for sunday guys. that stretch of water looks like we should haul some fish out.

that section of river is a slow bend in the river, the outide of the bend is probaly 6 to 10 feet with big rock ina lot of the deep part(good place for smallies to hide) but the inside is shallow halfway out. According to what Ive heard the water tempature has a lot to do with when they go on the nest I'm just wondering if maybe with the north being a lot smaller river the water may have warmed qyicker triggering the nesting period sooner, this is something you probably know a whole lot more about than I do ,what do yo think. We may have to go to traditonal fishing to get an agression strike from the smallies if they are on the nest.

we'll catch them one way or the other...if i have to dive down under the rocks and drag em out by the gills
like you said i think water temp has everything to do with it. powell is a naturally cold river anyway...95 of the bottom and shoreline is rocks which i think keeps it colder than say cumberland which has a lot of rocks but also a lot of sandy and dirt bottoms. i think we will be good....weather looks great...and theyll be biting something. we'll just have to see what.

just went and spent about 30 bucks in some booyah mini spinnerbaits and mini jigs in case the smallies are still on the nest up there.
just talked to one of my co-workers who lives in viper...he said he was fishing north fork not a few days ago and they caught 16 smallies...so maybe theyre not on the nest yet or already off? hopefully so....
he said he was using rebel craws and rooster tails.

man that sounds good I hope they are off the nest ,Ive used rebel craws and rooster tails they work excellent.I also have used a spinner bait that you can use for the flyrod they are called joes flies, I think the web site is joesflies.com they work well to and can be used with a regular casting rod just put a splitshot 6 inches up the line.I have a few of those from last year if they are not hitting on top I may use them.

Are you familiar with where Isom is located on 15 ? As far as the time you fellows decide what time you want to be there, heck I would start at daylight. Bco is the one with the girlfriend he hasn't seen all week may need to let him decide what time. I really doesn't matter to me.

I would like to start early myself but Im afraid that may not be possible for me. However dont let me hold you guys up if you wanna go at sunrise, I can meet up later.
I will probably not be able to leave Virgie until about 11. Let me know if this is ok, like I said if you guys want to leave earlier I can try to catch up later on.
JD give me a call later on and let me know where exactly you want to meet.
