Trophy fish size is 10 inches. Mine was 9 3/4 inches!

Still by far the biggest I ever caught! :D

I bet that was exciting. I can remember catching one when I was younger that was about 8 1/2" long. It's always fun to catch a large bluegill like that I think.

I caught this out of an old pond on our property. It was dug ages ago to water cattle. I have fished it VERY briefly in years past without a bite. About 30 % of it is covered in cattails. It does not really have any streams that empty into it and gets quite low and warm in the summer. I figured it was to shallow to have any fish life in it due to the summer heat. I decided to give it a try again yesterday. I just used my crappie pole and redworms. In 20 minutes I had caught the big fish I mentioned above, 3 bluegill about the size of my hand, one Rock bass about the size of my hand, as well as 3 baby blue gill and 3 baby rock bass. I obviously have not paid it as close attention as I needed to all these years. It obviously has a deep spot somewhere because they would have cooked last summer. And they have ovviously been alive for several years due to all the various sizes I caught. There is also obviously food available to the fish. It is covered about 25 to 30% in cattails. There is only one are where you can get to the water and fish. I guess I will clear out about half the cattails and other trees and briers around the bank and see what potential this thing has. It would be real nice to have a place to fish on MY property.

sounds like an awesome pond you got trx. i wish our ponds had some cattails in them. weve got a few ponds up at our barn stocked with bluegill, catfish, bass, and crappie. never do get bored in the summertime...i could sit and catch fish there all day.
