Spring 2006 was a very successful turkey season. There were a few misses at a few doubles and also a second shot take down. All in all, it was truley a blast. Can't wait 'till April '07.

I killed a great bird in that awful thunderstrom we had last season...Every time it thundered he would gobble and double gobble.. the best was it wasmy sones first year and we tried hard but he found more snakes than he could handle...it makes for an interesting day when you mix nerves.. 9 years old and snakes together...the snake always win...he was so scared he could not sit still...I was a Great season...Lot of birds...

honestly i dont want to remember any of my past 3 turkey seasons as they have all ended in defeat...big time pressure, not enough time, bad luck and bad shots on my part have left me beyond frustrated with all of it, but i still love it, even though i obviously am not that good at it. it seems i do good until crunch time and that gobbler is just a few yards away, then i blow the shot (have 4 times in a row....twice i hit the bird and didnt kill it, twice i completely missed like a dumb@$$). ive gotten real good at calling, scouting and looking for signs, and getting the bird in and staying still.

this year i was gonna take a more laid back approach, but instead i think ill just go all out. no mercy. if i have to use every single sick day for the year in mid april, so be it. turkeys will die come springtime. thats a promise.

Just keep going BC, it'll finally happen for ya. One of my favorite hunts I remember was in a thunderstorm. Like you said bill, the more it thundered, the more that big tom gobbled. He finally couldn't stand it anymore and I made supper out of him. Hoping for the same sucess in 07.

Hunting pressure can sure make it tough at times, If the beginning of this years season is not going so well BCO,..make sure you save a sick day for towards the end of the season. A few days makes a big difference in turkey hunting (More hens are nesting--Less hunters in the woods).

Here's couple photo's of my last years hunt. :)

Really not that big,..most of the mature toms around where I live just range from 19 to 21 lbs. They keep themselves lean & mean from running up and down these hills.

Well Jim,
Do tell where is this honey hole of lean mean long beard birds...ok..I know...just off the park...keeps them from gettin call shy that way right...I don't even make a call until I have a gun in my hand just locator calls in the morning and afternoon...they learn real fast..and become call shy even faster...
