smallmouth here. pound for pound theres nothing that fights harder. my best one last year was only 3 lbs, but it was in powell and they say they dont get much bigger than that in powell river, except going on up towards norris lake.
walleye are a close second. this year im trying to fish the beginning of the walleye run...havent caught any yet but im gonna try again tonight. i wanna be the first to catch them in our spot on powell.
i love largemouth too...honestly probably like bluegill and crappie fishing more though. ive caught some great bluegill in fern lake over the years.

For me, its fishing for trout in a cold, clear mountain stream. Its more the peace, quite and solitude that I find trout fishing this type place, that I really enjoy.

yeah im a big fan of ultra light rods. what i consider my best catch last year was about a 5.5-6 lb walleye i caught on a micro and 4lb test...while fighting a quick river current. it was something else.

No real favorite, just love to fish! Since I only fish with my sons now (age 7 and 5), anything that bites is favored.
We fished last week in Norris Lake (Tennessee) but didn't catch anything; really disappointed because I thought we'd be in the crappie or bass along the rock ledges (even though the lake is down some 20'.

yeah i noticed it was way down last weekend...didnt see many boats at all on norris or cherokee. saw some gulls though....figured there would still be some striper fishermen out there chasing them.

I love catching a big mess of Crappie, nothing quite like getting into a good school of them and just catching one right after another. It also helps that they are some pretty good eatin as well.
I think catfish are some pretty good eatin too, but I don't enjoy catching them near as much, unless it's at a pay lake, but then I hate paying.
Small mouth are what keeps it fun though, very exciting fish to catch. I haven't had too much luck with them in the past year or so. Last good one I caught was about 3.5 pounds on an ultralight with 4lb line, was all sorts of fun.
Gonna give trout fishing a try this year and see what I think about it, haven't been since I was a little kid, don't really remember much about it.

When it is warm, we spend alot of time on Green River catfishing- usually from about 7 or 8 PM till 1 or 2 AM. While we are fishing we will throw out about 30 jugs, check em on the way back to camp and get up about 6-7 AM and run em and bring em in. LOVE that catfishing!

if there's catfish and cornbread count me IN.
JD...bell and harlan have a few streams with some brookies...some say they are native, dont know about that though. like you said, they are small but a beautiful fish to catch. Martins Fork Wild River has some, so does Shillalaeh Creek up near Hensleys Settlement. Actually the state record brookie was caught up near Hensleys Settlement in Bell Co. Hard walking, and you really can't flyfish because of the close quarters, but anytime you want to go just let me know.
