in many ways i love summer...love getting on the lake and fishing...cooking out...cold beer while working in the hot sun...but man im ready for grouse season

i just had my dog worked on. she had been pretty over-bred when I got her and I had noticed some small tumor like things on her belly, so I had her checked out. Ended up having surgery to remove some of her nipples which were in bad shape, having tumors removed (all tested benign as well), and had her speyed. i would have loved to had some pups by her from bills dog, but i think i made a good decision to prolong her life and health. ending up paying almost as much for this as the dog herself!

shes healed up now, running again. going to get some quail as soon as possible....we got some work to do before season

on a similar note...man have i been seeing some grouse lately. i spooked 6 yesterday while riding. and didnt ride that far either. hickory said hatch this year from everything hes heard will be great...best in a decade or better. the weather in mid may was perfect for the fragile chicks, so im hoping to get some birds this year! or at least a few more shots at those things...dang theyre quick!

I think that having you dog fixed was a fine thing to do. I've got my leg busted busted up and i won't be able to walk for a long time. i have made plans with Wayne to take care of buster this fall to ensure he stays in top condition. He's going to teach him to back and keep him on quail all fall. This is going to great for Buster. He should outstanding next fall when i can get around better.

thanks BCO...I already know that it is going to be tough fall...as hyper as I get and stuck to this bed is terrible...I can only use a walker right now and it really wears me out to go across the room and back...I got a wheel chair but can't get in it yet very good because I can't bend my leg that straight out yet it pulls on the ham string and tendons in my knee and it hurts really, really bad....like I said I just got home today the swelling should start going down some that will help alot....they want me to get up 6 times a day and let the blood run back in to the foot and stuff...it is terrible...you can drop by anytime I have a lot of company....great family and friends really come out at times like this....
