I've been wanting to try some river fishing.

I don't have the gear for fly fishing, so I don't know about any of that.

I also don't have any waders or anything.

So, basically I'm just wanting to find somewhere I can go and sit on the bank and try fishing with a regular spinning real.

I don't know of any places to go and try that at, and am hoping some of you on here will have some good suggestions.

I'm looking for places around the Hazard area, and maybe around the Redbird area.

Hey Archer I see you live in Hindman. I'll be glad to take you to some of the places I go . What are you wanting to fish for? In the summer I do what they call wet wading you can just put on an old pair of work boot or hightop ball shoes and hit the river. If you prefer I can show you where some big hole are for bank fishing to. If your interested in trying your hand at flyfishing I have several extra rods and your welcome to use one and I have tons of flies to use, you never know you may be a natural, but what ever you chose to do wil be fine with me.

I'm glad you mentioned that about living in Hindman, Fisher. I would have never noticed that it was wrong.

I now live down in the Chavies area. Well, it's Chavies by address. I actually live up on the hill where the Wendell Ford airport is.

I think mostly I'm just interested in just fishing from a river bank for now. Maybe when I get in better shape trying some wading and fly fishing. I've been pretty sedentary the past couple of years, not the outdoorsman I used to be anyway.

Right now I'm just trying to start getting out more again, not wanting to start out too fast and get frustrated or anything.

No problem, I would be glad to show you several places to go. I have a couple of friends that bank fish I take them with me and they bank fish while I wade the river. I know several places on the North and the Middle fork of the KY river and I also know the Redbird fairly well. Any time you wnat to go let me know and I'll show where I fish.

Talk to a couple of guys in the P-Burg Wal Mart today. One fished the Levisa around Pikeville last year and said Small Mouth/Large fishing was quite good.
The other mention Troublesome Creek in Perry County,..said Small Mouth was fair-good for him there last year.

Sounds like Levisa is on the list for this year, Troublesome is a nice creek fished it many times, it's just off 80. I'd be glad to take you anytime.

I wonder if it's alright to fish in Troublesome Creek over around Homeplace clinic?

For some reason I've always been fascinated with that creek. I've drove most of it, there is a road that pretty much follows the whole length of it seems like.

It gets pretty big once it goes under Highway 80 near Ary. I'd say a great place to fish it would be near Haddix, where Troublesome Creek runs into the North Fork of the Kentucky River.

I've fished most of the Troublesome from 80 to the jct of 15 near lost creek, theres some good smallie fishing . They are not the size (on average)you get out of the North but good size fish. I've been wanting to try it from Lost Creek to Haddix, we may give that a try this year.
