A friend of mine and I bought a couple of pontoon boats to fish the rivers this year. We just got them put together. The pontoons are not inflated all the way yet and the straps are not fastened securely but you can see what it looks like. Man river fishing is going to be blast this year ::rock:: ::rock:: ::rock::

Man o Man that's it,...:)

I guess,.. I got a 1000 questions about it,..

First, does the outside cover zip off ?
If it does ,..does the enter lining look like it would be hard to patch,..in case of a flat.
How long is the metal frame ?
How hard to inflate ??
It sorta looks like you could deflate and put in back seat of a car for transport. ????

Yes you can take the outside cover off. I haven't looked at the tubes much but it doesn't look like it would be hard to patch. The frame is about 5' long put together, it takes about ten minutes to break it down where you can put in the trunk of you car( you could get two in the trunk of your car). We used a power inflator for a air matress and it takes about five minutes to inflate both toons. The covers are even tougher than I thought they would be. Man I'll tell you one thing it sure is comfortable.

Yours come with a wheel to roll it to the river or lake,I'm going to make one for mine to. As far as the trolling motor and battery ,I'm probably going to put the boat in the water and then put the trolling motor and battery on it. I would say the motor and battery would probably weigh 50lbs or more.JMO

Hey,.. remember when I ask the other day about licensing,..well the way I'm reading this,..we might have to especially if we have trolling motor.

Read Definitions First. http://162.114.4.13/KRS/235-00/chapter.htm

# 2 excepts certain conditions, but only on private waters- #2 (A)
********************************************************

It shouldn't take much for a wheel,..making the bracket would probably be the biggest problem..

If you haven't made one before I get my toon in,..I'll take some up close photo's so you can see how they have it mounted.

I read it the same way, but it also a grey area at the end of that statement that this boat could fall under. My question is if they do have to be licensed where do you put the numbers (the ones I've seen won't stay on the pontoons)? I'll ask some of the guys on triver smallies that live in KY.

This site tells a little more about it. If we do it looks like it would be $5.00. http://fw.ky.gov/pdf/08fishboat6.pdf?li ... h=C102C682

I called the # that is one the site I just posted. He said he didn't know you would have to contact your county clerks office. They sure don't make the regulation clear thers a lot of gray area.

I bet a conservation officer would know if they catch us out fishing. Or he would find out real fast just to be able to write a ticket.

I'm going to call the clerks office Monday morning , but they probably don't even know what a personnal pontoon boat is. I'll probably have to e-mail them a pic   :D

The cleck's office will say to license,..they will want the money. Probably won't be much for title fees,.cleck fees & license

But once it's licensed,.are we under the same requirements as any other boat used on Ky water's. Fire Ext., Horn, Lights, etc.

I have owned my canoe for twenty years and have never been ticketed or stopped on any lake or river. When I bought it I checked and a canoe was not required to be registered. The guy from the fish and wildlife I talked to ask me how long it was. I'm thinking that may be they don't fall under that requirement because just like a canoe where are you going to store those things and what use would a fire ext, horn and light be and where would you mount them? .

I'd say we won't have any problems,.. until we put a trolling motor on pontoon. Then is when we will have to license.

Watched the call in show,..and that question was asked. Definitely have to license, if we use a trolling motor. :(

Don't know if that places us under other boating reg's or not.

Man I'm glad you watched and the question was asked. My wife decided that her and the boy wanted an ice cream from town about 10 minutes before the show :evil ::upset:: :D . I think it is $5.00 to register it (thats not to bad). I just can't see how they would require you to carry a fire ext and put lights on a boat of that type(but we are dealing with the state)who knows.
