So, does anyone have any good tips for re-spooling a spinning fishing reel?

I've had the worst time so far this year with getting line twist. It's happening as soon as it comes off the line spool too, before it ever has time to get twisted by the reel. Of course, I'm sure it's not put on that way, just a freak thing happening when I'm reeling the line on.

I must be bad out of practice. At one point in time I could do it no problem. Now... I just ain't having no luck with it.

When I use to put line on my spinning reels I didn't do like most guys do and run something through the hole and reel it on. I lay it in the floor and put it on the reel the same way it is on the spool it came on(it has a memory from being on that spool for who knows how long). That always help me with that problem.

That's what I've been doing here fisher. So far it's not been working to well for me.

It's probably got more to do with me being out of practice with it than anything. It's been two years or longer since I've actually taken the time to do this. I used to do it at least twice a year before, on a few different reels. So I used to get lots of practice with it.

You got me on that one. I do remember a couple of times trying a new line and had all sorts of troubleout of them. I have found that some lines just don't work well on spin casting reels. You may try using the smooth casting trilene it seems to be more limp than other lines. JMO

I think I figured out what my problem may be.

I've been using the bigger round spools of line, you know the ones that come in the big square boxes.

The reels I was putting it on were little bitty reels on ultra light rods.

I think, the line has the memory from the big spool, and putting in the small reels is messing with that.

What I'll probably do is wet the next spool of line I use. Seems like that use to help sometimes when line got memory in it that bad.

I think you may be right ,I never did like using those big spools of line, I always bought the smaller spools.
