No, haven't been out. Plan on doing some scouting after the first of month rolls around. Just don't want to get out to early,.I know things will change in their habits the closer it gets for the hens to start laying. Plus the pre-season scouting done by other hunters.

Saw prolly 15 hens and two big ole gobblers strutting on some private land on the way to work this morning. Heres the thing, some would think turkey activity increases with blue bird cloudless skies......well, these two gobblers were putting on a show in a down pour, bitty killing thunderstorm.

I've not heard them gobble yet, but I've definitely seen plenty.

Up were I live must be like turkey heaven. There is about 15-20 that are always hanging out around here.

This morning I counted 13 of them, I don't know where the others got to. They were just strutting around acting like I wasn't even outside.

I did see one big Tom come up later, probably had a good 10" beard on him. Probably won't see him anymore after turkey season. I'd say someone will take him out.

Makes me nervous sometimes actually. I live close to an easily traveled road, and when hunting seasons start getting close the traffic definitely picks up a bit, with people driving by stretching their neck out. I just keep waiting on one irresponsible hunter to drive by one day and open fire. Hopefully that will never happen.

Saw a nice flock this morning on the depot. Its getting warm here, tomorrow even better. I guess I better meet the sunrise in the morning with a cup of coffee and my owl hooter.

Started breaking daylight at 6:45 this morning. Not a cloud in the sky. Heard 3 different birds - 2 huntable, 1 not. After fly down, they went hush mouth. I was about 200 yards from one bird and pinned his location on his second gobble. To be honest, I wouldnt be surprised if he roosted in my deer stand. I figured I would hear something this morning...its just getting toooo close!

He was in full strut when I first saw him. I bet folks driving along 23 thought I was crazy,..sneaking along a bank with my camera in order to get this photo :)
