Someday I'd still like to see a good database of tracks of trails of all different types. Things like hiking, biking, ATV, horseback, and multi-use trails. Things that could be user submitted. It's been discussed before.

It would be hard to manage something like that though. There would have to be difficulty ratings, good descriptions describing whether or not it was a single trail, or combination of trails put together to make a loop, things like that.

Of course, it would have to be on established public use trails, to keep laws from being broken, and a way to keep the track publisher for being liable for bad information. Sometimes a GPS doesn't always record a track in the best way, things like cliffs and tree cover can make a huge difference, so a person wouldn't want to be liable for the occasional track that may be off a bit.

There are the problems of people wanting to post off park/trail tracks as well, on private lands. I suppose it's these reasons that we don't see too many websites with track databases on them yet.
